Duffman Back To Best In Time For Auction Tilt

VINCE Curry winner Duffman is back at his best and ready to storm into the final of the Group 2 Golden Chase (520m) auction series at Ipswich.

VINCE Curry winner Duffman is back at his best and ready to storm into the final of the Group 2 Golden Chase (520m) Auction Series at Ipswich.

That's according to his part-owner and trainer Jedda Cutlack as the dog prepares to run in the series semi-finals out of box one on Saturday night.

Duffman (SH Avatar-She's Some Gal) opened up webbing in a foot at Ipswich on March 16 and Jedda was forced to scratch him from the final of the Rising Stars.

“We were a bit lucky in that the split in the webbing was deep but clean,” she said.

“It helped us get it repaired and still be able to keep him in very light training.”

Duffman was beaten into third in his heat of the Golden Chase last week behind Gone Walkabout as the $1.20 favourite.

“There were excuses for him last week,” said Jedda.

“He did not have as much work as we would have hoped going into the race, But, there will be no excuses this week.

“He pulled up great after last week's race and the webbing is fine. He's drawn perfectly and loves the rails.”

Duffman is not brilliant out but has enough pace to hold his ground to the first turn.

He is a powerful finisher.

“There is not a lot of early pace in this semi,” said Jedda.

Jedda trains out of the Tzouvelis kennels at Park Ridge and knows only too well that Pursuer is a danger to Duffman.

“She is better over 600 metres,” said Jedda.

“But, she loves Ipswich and if she is sitting on our tail at the home turn, she will be tough to hold out.

“And, there is no doubt Hush Hush has a huge motor.”
