Hot Youngster To Be Given WA Oaks Chance

EXCITING youngster Miss Envy will be tossed into the deep end in the heats of the Group 2 WA Oaks (530m) at Cannington on Saturday week.

EXCITING youngster Miss Envy will be tossed into the heats of the Group 2 WA Oaks (530m) at Cannington on Saturday week.

The daughter of Aston Dee Bee and Miss America broke her maiden at Cannington last Saturday night in 29.53 seconds, the second fastest maiden winner at the track.

Sunset Spitfire, now an exciting young stud dog, is the fastest.

Steve Shinners, whose wife Krystal trains the bitch, said today Miss Envy would be given her chance in the Oaks series despite her lack of big race experience.

"She has had only two races and one qualifying trial over 500 metres, so she lacks experience," Shinners said.

"But the ability is there so she deserves her chance."

Miss Envy is from Miss America and is a half sister to the fabulous litter the Shinners raced by Aussie Infrared that includes Electrified, Runaway To Mars, Solidified etc.

She won her maiden by nine lengths as the $1.60 favourite.

"I trialled her a while ago with Runaway To Mars and he is a Group dog," Shinners said.

"He led her early, she charged up to him and crashed straight into him losing five lengths, then came back and he beat her only a length in a short trial at Cannington.

"She could be anything and we have a few others in the litter that are hot as well."

Miss Envy's kennel name of Gary stems from a Youtube sensation.

"When they were about six weeks old, Krystal and I would sit in their yard and watch them at play," Shinners said. "This bitch would be charging around.

"There is a Youtube video on an outback character who has a goat called Gary who he videos charging along beside his car.

"We named this bitch Gary and it has stuck. Yes, it is a different name for a female."

Shinners said he would have been happy for the bitch to win in 29.70 in the maiden but it surprised the kennel she went 29.53.

"We believe she is very special and her run home times are the strongest part," he said.

"We'll give the Oaks a try with her."
