Popular athlete Rachel King is the latest of a growing group of jockeys to enjoy the excitement of racing a greyhound.

King joins the likes of Brenton Avdulla, Danny Beasley, Kathy O'Hara, Nash and Campbell Rawiller, Jye McNeil, John Allen and Harry Coffey who have all tasted success racing greyhounds.

FIELDS AND FORM FOR WAGGA FRIDAY

King and her manager, trainer Shaun Flaherty, own the Lisa Delbridge-trained chaser Nyali King which will be aiming to secure a berth in the rich Southern Stars series final in a heat at Friday's Wagga meeting.

Nyali King, a daughter of Fernando Bale, has been a great introduction to greyhound racing for King with the white and blue bitch winning 13 of her first 24 starts.

"Shaun found the litter and picked her out and I must say he did a good job," King said.

"Shaun had been at me for a while to give racing a greyhound a try and here we are.

"It's been a lot of fun. It's been really good.

"It's a really good release from work.

"Naturally being involved in racing I love all types of racing, it's in my blood and this is a good escape and a chance to really enjoy another sport."

Nyali King is named after a beach in Mombasa, which is also her dam's name, and on Friday she's landed the prized box one draw.

"Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get to watch her race yet but hopefully she can make it through to the final and I'll head down to Goulburn next week," King said.

"She's got box one on Friday so hopefully she will make use of the inside and can book her place in the final."

Next Friday's final at Goulburn offers $50,000-to-the-winner.

On Tuesday in the Temora heats, superstar She's A Pearl and Victorian Salad Dodger qualified for the rich 440m final.

Friday will also showcase three stacked heats at Goulburn.
