Capalaba to Resume Racing On April 20

CAPALABA will resume racing on April 20 with the track having not raced following the harrowing floods experienced in the region in late February.

CAPALABA will resume racing on April 20.

The track has not raced following the floods in late February but hosted trial sessions on Thursday and will trial again on Saturday.

"It has been a difficult time for participants and club officials directly affected by the flooding over the past seven weeks," RQ Executive General Manager Operations Adam Wallish said.

"It is incredibly pleasing to have Capalaba back online and I applaud the club's management, staff, contractors and volunteers for the outstanding and relentless commitment to getting the track back and operational."

The April 16 trials can be reserved from 8am on Good Friday. Nominations for the April 20 race meeting will close at 9.30am, April 19.

Meanwhile,  Albion Park is hoping to return to racing in the week starting May 2.

The track surface is in progress, but will not be completed until next week now due to additional supply, mixing and testing being delayed by the Easter long weekend.

Power is a combination of mains and six generators that will be on the track for a while. Further works for boxes and finish line power are to be undertaken next week.

Reconstruction works on the kennel building and other ground floor areas is progressing well, and should be completed by April 26.

Given the delay in finalising the track surface, the Brisbane Club has pushed back the timelines for return:

April 29 Public Trials morning

April 30 Public Trials morning

Return to racing  week starting May 2
